Eyelash extensions is getting more popular as many of us start taking the advantage of how it help to save time, easy morning routine and give us the confident on the daily basis.
You can just literally wake up get dress and be ready for the day even with out the hustle with mascara or eye makeup. It give the convenience of not having to put mascara on or taking off at night.
Most importantly, you will feel better and more confident just knowing at your beauty feature are enhanced and highlighted 24/7, even when you sleep. You are ready for the 6 am class or meeting in no time.
I have to agree that having eyelash extension is on the "treat yourself", "luxury" beauty services. Therefore, taking care of them is much more important because you want them to last and make your investment worth it.
The best retention come from 50% esthetician's application and 50% client's aftercare. If we don't take good care for them, they wont last as long as they should.
This ultimate aftercare guide will help save your bucks for a long lasting eyelash extensions.
With in the first 24 hour
- Don't get the eyelash extensions wet, If you wash your face that first night, use the wet towel go around the lashes. ( with our professional eyelash extensions application, we pick up very minimal adhesive to give the seamless bonding. The adhesive pretty much completely cure with in the next few hours after the appointment)
- No Swimming, Sauna, actively workout, facial or spray tanning
For everyday
-Use oils free make up remover wipe. Tip: No mi-cellar water or linty Q-tip. Recommend to use Simple Eye Makeup Remover Wipe.
- Keeping your skincare regimen stick to the oil-free is a perk. But I understand oil-free is not for everyone. Apply oil-based products in a thin layer and away from the eyelash extensions will help.
- Wash the lashes nightly/ daily with the bubble lash shampoo even when you don't wear any makeup. Our skin constantly produce natural oil or sebum to nourish our skin and our lashes. Oil is a culprit of premature shedding and eyelash extensions's enemies. Not washing them daily isn't an option. Oil can retain more deal skin cell or residue that first will cause lash follicle blockage ( affect new lash growths); second will put you at the risk of unnecessary eye's irritation. BUT if you follow the aftercare, you keeping the risks at bay.
> The best to wash your lashes in the shower
> Dispense a pump of foaming lashes cleanser on the back of your hand.
> Pick up the foam with soft clean eye shadow brush ( Not the spoolie or Q tip). The soft bristle of the eye shadow brush will help get in between the extensions and effectively remove natural oil or residue at easy. it won't pull on your delicate eyelid.
> Rinse with room temperature water ( luke warm if fine not nor warm or hot water)
> Air dry and brush them so they will be nice and neat.
I also include the video instruction with the following link
- Avoid your facial cleanser (any brand) dripping down the beautiful extensions by remove the cleanser with your hands or towel before rinsing your face.
- Shampoo and conditioning your hair from the back for the same reason. You don't want the solution dripping down the lashes
- Sleeping on your back to prevent extensions at the outer corner being mushed toward inside. I find having a leg bolster pillow underneath your knee will help sleeping on you back.
- Opt for silk pillow case. Silk glides smooth, cause less friction and they are soft and luxury. Why not invest in your beauty sleep.
- Keeping your eyelash extension away from direct high heat exposure. ( Baking, cooking, blow drying your hair ).
- Do not perm, curl, rub or pull your lashes
- Minimal or No eye makeup play an important role for good retention. Tip: If you can't go without eyeliner, use a oil-free liquid felt tip eyeliner. Recommended to use the DiorShow Art Pen that is removal in with warm water or the lash shampoo.
- Absolutely no mascara on the extensions. Mascara will clump them together and worsen the retention.
- Schedule refills every 2-3 weeks to maintain the look
Side Note:
- Using eye drops, eye cream, actively work-out, swimming or having oily/ combination skin can cause premature shedding. We find that Sealant is coming handy in this situation. It give the protective coating there the adhesive bonding to keep them last longer.
- First time client will see the extension shedding attached to the natural lashes. and that is totally normal, It is a good shed. By the end of lash cycle, your naturally lash shed together with the extensions. New lash will grow back.
- If you want longer, healthier and longer lashes both for eyelash extensions and lash lift and tint, I recommend to use the the Grande Lash-MD. Yes you can use this eyelash growth serum with the eyelash extensions. You would apply the serum on eyelid not the root of the lashes. so it doesn't affect the retention. It is a must for client want to keep up with volume or Russian volume lashes
